Jonathan Brazil, based in Waterford City, holds an honours Bachelor’s degree (2000) in Industrial Computing and also a Master’s degree (2005) in Telecommunications Systems Design. A published author for organisations such as the IEEE, Jonathan has over 10 years experience in the IT business in addition to 9 years experience in third level education (lecturing to degree level students, adult education, and acting in a project supervisory capacity). Jonathan is a certificate holder following completed mediation and conflict resolution training at the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, which is synonymous with the Northern Ireland peace process and many other community disputes. Jonathan is also a certified mediator and professional member of the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland.
Aside from professional pursuits Jonathan has: served as a volunteer within the Steps to Engineering Programme to speak to school children about careers in engineering; acted as chairperson for residents’ associations; been a fundraiser for local hospice charities; a marathon runner for charity; and an active campaigner and founding member of The Friends of the University for the South East, a group campaigning for equal education options for all people living in the South East for Ireland.
